A free franchise forum will be held for the local business community on Wednesday, May 23rd from 5:30-7:00 pm.
Location: Warrenton Highlands Development at 1600 Ensign Avenue, Warrenton. (Staples Center)
The forum is targeted to local community members interested in learning more about what a franchise is, how a franchise is different from a locally owned independent business, comparing a franchise model vs. an independent model and educating local people on what is involved in starting a franchise.
The Franchise Forum is being co-hosted by Kevin Leahy, Executive Director of Clatsop Economic Development Resources (CEDR).
and Ann Samuelson of Atwater Real Estate.
Light snacks and drinks will be provided.

Over 100 attendees who stayed for the entire session including keynote speaker urban strategist Michele Reeves and a panel of local business owners, managers, and property owners.
Major takeaway- Look at your business with "fresh eyes" every day. "Make your display windows exciting." "Color goes a long way in attracting customers to your business. Paint is not expensive for store/business exterior. Say no to beige!" Offer "great products and services", and "stellar customer service". "Work together with the other businesses in your community."
Some people call this retail 101. Successful businesses get it and practice this every day.

Oregon State University’s President Ed Ray will be visiting Astoria as part of a campaign to inform Oregonians about the powerful economic impact OSU has in our communities.
A new study detailing the size and scope of Oregon State University’s contributions to the economy and society shows that OSU’s economic footprint now totals $2.06 billion – more than $1.93 billion of that in Oregon – making it the largest recorded impact by any four-year university in this state.
In an open to the public address sponsored by Astoria Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce and CEDR (Clatsop Economic Development Resources) on Tuesday, May 1st, Ray will discuss how OSU’s economic impact has grown by almost $500 million over the past five years and will detail how the university’s growing academic, research and outreach and financial impact is helping drive local prosperity in Astoria, Warrenton and the north coast.
Ray’s presentation will be held at 1:00pm at the Holiday Inn Express. Refreshments will be served at this free event open to the public.
